Jackson, KY – A warm and increasingly unsettled weather pattern is setting up across Kentucky this weekend, with multiple chances for storms and a risk for a few strong to severe storms.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a weak front today (Friday) could trigger isolated storms, especially across northeastern Kentucky. Highs will range from the upper 60s to mid-70s, with storm chances highest in the northeast.
On Saturday, conditions remain warm with highs climbing into the 70s to near 80°, but storm chances stay relatively low.
The main concern arrives Sunday into Sunday night, when a stronger system moves in:
- Highs surge into the 80s ahead of the front
- Widespread showers and thunderstorms develop Sunday night into Monday
- A Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather is in place
Forecasters say storms may begin as isolated cells before organizing into a line, with the main threat being damaging wind gusts, though small hail is also possible.
Behind the system, a noticeable cooldown arrives Monday, with highs dropping back into the 50s and 60s.
Residents should stay weather-aware, especially late Sunday, as conditions could change quickly with the approaching front.
