Jackson, KY – Eastern Kentucky residents should brace for a wintry mix Monday as snow and freezing temperatures hit the region. Light snow and icy roads may develop, making travel hazardous. Cold weather will intensify midweek, with temperatures plunging into single digits.

According to the National Weather Service, a weak disturbance will bring a slight chance of snow and sprinkles on Monday afternoon. Highs will hover around 38°F before falling to near 30°F overnight. Motorists traveling on major roadways, including KY-15 and KY-30, should plan for slippery surfaces.

Tuesday will bring colder air, with highs peaking at just 30°F. A 20% chance of light snow continues through Tuesday night, with lows dropping to 8°F. Wind chills may make it feel even colder, prompting officials to urge residents to limit outdoor exposure and check on vulnerable neighbors.

Wednesday marks a brief break in precipitation, with mostly sunny skies and a high near 28°F. However, another chance of light snow returns Wednesday night into Thursday, reinforcing icy conditions and a low of 12°F. By Friday, temperatures will rebound slightly to the mid-40s, bringing relief after the cold snap.

Residents should take precautions by winterizing vehicles, stocking emergency supplies, and dressing in layers. Stay updated on weather alerts and road conditions through the National Weather Service and local authorities.
