Lexington, KY – Kentucky will stay under the influence of Arctic air next week, but skies should remain mostly clear and dry. According to the NOAA Climate Prediction Center’s 8–14 Day Outlook, issued December 1, the Bluegrass State will experience below-normal temperatures from December 9 through December 15, with little to no precipitation expected.

Forecasters say highs will generally reach the upper 30s to low 40s, with nighttime lows in the 20s across much of the state. Lexington, Louisville, and Bowling Green can expect cold, sunny afternoons and frosty mornings throughout the week, as Arctic air holds firm over the Ohio Valley.

NOAA’s long-range forecast suggests below-normal precipitation, meaning the state should stay dry and quiet, unlike the snowy conditions expected farther north. Light winds will make mornings brisk but not bitter, keeping conditions calm across central and eastern Kentucky.

Meanwhile, the West Coast, Southwest, and southern Plains will bask in above-normal warmth and dry weather, forming a sharp contrast with the chill spreading across the East.

Meteorologists say the cold pattern could persist into mid-December before a brief warm-up closer to the holidays. For now, Kentuckians can expect a stretch of crisp, clear winter weather.
