Louisville, KY – Warmer temperatures and sunny skies are on the way this weekend, offering relief from the recent cold snap. Sunday’s forecast predicts highs near 40°F, with melting snow expected across the region. Drivers are advised to remain cautious on secondary roadways as melting snow may refreeze overnight, creating slick patches.
According to the National Weather Service, Sunday will bring partly sunny skies, light west winds, and temperatures reaching 40°F. Snow accumulation from earlier this week is expected to diminish, but road crews caution drivers to watch for icy spots, especially during early morning hours.
Looking ahead to Monday, temperatures will climb to 44°F with mostly sunny skies and gentle winds. By Tuesday, a high of 50°F will provide unseasonably warm weather, offering an extended period of snow melt. Overnight lows will remain below freezing, dipping to 23°F Sunday night and 31°F Monday night, so icy conditions will persist in shaded areas.
Drivers on major routes, including I-64 and I-65, are encouraged to give themselves extra time during morning commutes. Pedestrians should also remain vigilant for icy sidewalks as thawing and refreezing occur.
This week, Louisville residents can expect mild and sunny weather to continue through Wednesday, with highs near 50°F and clear conditions. By Thursday, temperatures will dip slightly to 42°F, with a chance of showers arriving late in the week.
