LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A damp stillness hangs over the city this early Sunday morning as clouds stretch low across the Ohio River. Pavement glistens from spotty overnight sprinkles, and the air carries that unmistakable October weight — cool, calm, and heavy with moisture. Kentucky’s final days of the month will feature on-and-off rain before sunshine and crisp air return in time for Halloween.

Today brings a few passing sprinkles with a high near 63°F. Most of the day stays dry but gray, with light east winds and limited breaks of sun. Drivers may notice slick spots early along I-64 and I-65, though widespread rain remains unlikely.

Monday ushers in a more organized wave of light showers, especially through the morning and midday hours. Expect highs near 60°F and low clouds keeping conditions damp and cool. Another system strengthens Tuesday night into Wednesday, bringing the best chance for steady rain across Kentuckiana. Some areas north of the river could see over a half inch of accumulation by midweek.

By Thursday, skies begin to clear, and temperatures rebound into the mid-50s under partial sunshine. That leads into what looks like an ideal setup for trick-or-treat weather Friday evening — dry, light breezes, and comfortably cool near 55°F.

After that, long-range models hint at a chillier, early-November pattern, the kind that could introduce Kentucky’s first flirt with frost in the weeks ahead.
