Louisville, KY – A powerful winter storm is set to impact Kentucky, bringing snow, sleet, and freezing rain through Wednesday morning.

According to the National Weather Service, a Winter Storm Watch is in effect from Monday evening through Wednesday, affecting Louisville, Lexington, and southern Indiana. Forecasters predict up to 4 inches of snow, with freezing rain creating hazardous road conditions along I-65, I-64, and I-71.

Snow is expected to begin late Monday night, transitioning to a mix of sleet and freezing rain Tuesday. Bridges and overpasses will be especially slick, and officials urge caution for commuters and travelers.

By Wednesday, another system will bring additional rain, increasing the risk of flash flooding in low-lying areas. Areas south of Louisville may see 2-3 inches of rainfall, further complicating travel conditions.

Kentucky Emergency Management advises limiting travel, preparing for possible power outages, and keeping extra food, water, and warm clothing on hand. Stay tuned to weather updates as conditions evolve.
