Kentucky – Wet roads and reduced visibility are likely across the Commonwealth through Feb 23-27 as a warm front lifts north and brings widespread rain to much of the state.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, temperatures across the Ohio Valley are expected to trend near to slightly above seasonal averages during the Feb 23-27 period, while precipitation probabilities run above normal. As milder air pushes in from the south, rain will dominate across Kentucky, limiting any wintry concerns.

Louisville and communities along I-64 may see steady rainfall that creates ponding on low-lying roads and slower commutes during peak travel hours. Lexington and areas along I-75 could experience periods of moderate rain that briefly reduce visibility. In western Kentucky, including Paducah and Bowling Green, warmer air will settle in quickly, keeping conditions all rain and increasing runoff into creeks and drainage systems.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet may monitor flood-prone roadways and clear storm drains where needed. Drivers should slow down on wet pavement, use headlights during heavier rainfall and avoid driving through standing water.

Additional updates may follow as the warm, wet pattern continues through Feb 23-27.
