Louisville, Ky. – Rain and thunderstorms could drench the Louisville area by late Monday, bringing wet roads and the threat of lightning through Tuesday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, scattered showers will develop this evening, increasing in coverage overnight into Tuesday. Thunderstorms are likely throughout Tuesday, with some storms producing heavy rain and gusty winds. Temperatures will stay mild but slightly below seasonal norms, ranging from 70 to 76 degrees today and 70 to 75 degrees Tuesday.

Rain will taper off by early Wednesday, but clouds will linger midweek. Highs will remain steady, hovering in the low to mid-70s through Thursday. Commuters should prepare for slick roads during morning and evening drives Tuesday, especially in Jefferson, Bullitt, and Oldham counties.

Drivers are encouraged to slow down in wet conditions and avoid flooded areas. Those using electronics for work or school should keep devices charged in case of isolated outages due to lightning.

This system marks a short-lived break from recent dry weather. No severe weather is currently expected, but updated advisories may be issued if storm intensity increases.

Rain chances drop significantly after Tuesday night, with partly sunny skies returning by Thursday.
