Jackson, Ky. – Thunderstorms and dense fog are expected to impact travel across eastern Kentucky through Tuesday night, with heavy rain and possible lightning posing hazards along major roads during peak evening hours.
According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, a 60% chance of storms continues Monday, increasing to 90% on Tuesday. Thunderstorms could bring intense downpours between 4 and 5 p.m. today, followed by additional rounds after 5 p.m. Drivers are urged to use caution, especially with dense morning fog and reduced visibility forecast before 9 a.m. Tuesday.
Jackson, Campton, and surrounding areas in Breathitt, Wolfe, and Morgan counties may also experience heat index values near 97°F this afternoon before storms roll in. Calm winds will make air feel heavy and stagnant, increasing discomfort and storm potential.
