Paducah, Kentucky – Storms and sweltering heat will dominate the weekend across western Kentucky and eastern Missouri as temperatures soar into the 90s with scattered thunderstorms beginning Saturday afternoon.

According to the National Weather Service, Paducah and surrounding areas could see showers and storms developing after 1 p.m. Saturday, with a high near 94°F. Winds from the southwest at 5 to 8 mph may not offer much relief. Motorists along I-24 and U.S. 60 should be ready for sudden downpours and slick conditions. The chance of storms continues overnight into Sunday with slightly cooler daytime highs around 91°F.

Communities in both states should monitor changing conditions, especially during peak travel hours. Localized flooding, lightning, and brief wind gusts could disrupt outdoor plans. Keep devices charged and avoid non-essential travel during storm periods.

Sunday night and into Monday, scattered storm chances linger, with another round of afternoon thunderstorms expected by 1 p.m. Monday. Highs will remain steady near 91°F. While Monday night clears to partly cloudy skies, summer humidity sticks around.
