Louisville, KY – A strong cold front is set to move through Kentucky late Saturday, bringing gusty winds, rain, and a brief chance for thunderstorms as the weekend begins. According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, showers and storms are expected to develop from west to east Saturday evening into early Sunday morning.

The agency reports that while a few strong or severe storms are possible, confidence in severe weather remains low. Behind the front, cooler and breezy conditions will settle in Sunday, with wind gusts reaching 30–40 mph.

Rainfall totals across the region are forecast to average 0.5 to 1.5 inches, with localized areas potentially receiving more than two inches. The heaviest rain and strongest gusts are likely Saturday night, particularly in western and central Kentucky.

Sunday will bring noticeably cooler, windy, and showery weather as temperatures drop behind the front. Drivers should prepare for reduced visibility and slick roads during the overnight hours, especially on interstates I-65, I-64, and I-71.

Residents are encouraged to secure outdoor items and monitor updates from the National Weather Service for any changes to the storm outlook heading into the weekend.
