Louisville, Kentucky – Scattered snow showers are creating difficult driving conditions across central Kentucky this morning, with brief heavy bursts capable of quickly reducing visibility and making roads slick during the early commute.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, snow showers will continue through the morning hours, and some may intensify for short periods. While overall accumulations are expected to remain light, heavier showers could briefly coat roads, particularly untreated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses. Visibility may drop quickly in stronger snow, increasing the risk for accidents.

The Louisville metro area and surrounding counties, including Jefferson, Oldham, Bullitt, Shelby, and Spencer counties, are most likely to see travel impacts this morning. Snow accumulation will be minimal and largely confined to grassy and elevated surfaces, though isolated spots could see up to a half inch where heavier showers develop.

Behind the snow, colder and blustery conditions will take over. Northwest winds gusting between 20 and 30 mph will push wind chills into the teens and 20s, making it feel much colder throughout the day even as snowfall tapers off.

Drivers are urged to slow down, leave extra following distance, and remain alert for rapidly changing conditions. Snow showers are expected to diminish later today, but cold, windy weather will linger. Additional advisories or updates may be issued if conditions worsen this morning.
