Louisville, KY – A series of storm systems will bring off-and-on rain and thunderstorms to Kentucky through Saturday night, with the strongest threat arriving Sunday, particularly west of I-65.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, scattered afternoon showers are expected Thursday, with the best chance for thunderstorms developing tonight, especially north of Interstate 64. Temperatures will drop into the upper 40s to mid-50s overnight.

Storms are expected to taper off early Friday, giving way to warmer temperatures ranging from the upper 70s to low 80s. However, conditions will remain unsettled heading into the weekend. Showers are likely to return Saturday, and the potential for strong to severe thunderstorms increases by Sunday and Sunday night.

Southern Indiana and north-central Kentucky are most at risk for thunderstorm activity, particularly tonight and again late in the weekend. Rainfall could impact travel, outdoor plans, and increase the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.

Residents should stay weather-aware and monitor alerts, especially those west of I-65, where Sunday’s storm potential appears strongest. Secure loose outdoor items, prepare for brief power outages, and avoid flooded roads. Stay tuned to NOAA weather radio and local updates for real-time advisories.
