Louisville, KY – Severe thunderstorms and strong winds will slam into Louisville on Sunday, bringing potential hazards across Jefferson County and beyond. Local residents should brace for gusts up to 26 mph, lightning, and heavy rainfall that may disrupt travel along I-65 and other key corridors.

According to the National Weather Service, storms are likely to begin before 11 a.m. and intensify between noon and 2 p.m., followed by more rain through the evening. The chance of precipitation sits at 100% Sunday, with new rainfall between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. Some thunderstorms could produce localized flooding, especially in low-lying areas and urban streets.

Temperatures will reach a high of 76°F on Sunday before dipping to 55°F overnight. Winds will remain steady from the south at 14 to 17 mph with gusts topping 25 mph. Those with Sunday travel plans or outdoor events should monitor alerts and consider early adjustments.

Looking ahead, showers remain in the forecast for Monday with another round of rain possible before 2 p.m. Tuesday offers a brief reprieve with mostly sunny skies and a high near 60°F.

The midweek forecast calls for more wet weather. Wednesday and Thursday both carry a 70% chance of rain and possible thunderstorms. Highs will hover in the low 70s, with overnight lows dropping to the mid-50s.
