Louisville, KY – A line of strong to severe thunderstorms is forecast to move across Kentucky beginning late Sunday afternoon and continuing into early Monday morning.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, KY, the most likely time for severe weather ranges from 5 p.m. Sunday through 5 a.m. Monday, March 31. Damaging winds are expected to be the primary hazard, with gusts strong enough to down trees and power lines. Large hail and isolated tornadoes remain possible, especially during the late-night hours.

The threat will begin in western Kentucky, including cities like Paducah and Hopkinsville, between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m., moving east toward Louisville and Bowling Green by 8 p.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern Kentucky, including Jackson, Hazard, and Pikeville, is expected to experience the strongest activity between 2 a.m. and 5 a.m.

Residents are urged to secure outdoor objects, stay weather-aware through the night, and have multiple ways to receive alerts. Those in mobile homes or flood-prone areas should prepare alternative shelter plans.

This storm system aligns with an active spring pattern typical for the region, but the overnight timing increases danger due to reduced visibility and alertness. Local emergency services remain on standby statewide.
