Paducah, Kentucky – Severe thunderstorms could rattle western Kentucky Monday night into Tuesday, bringing hail, strong winds, and isolated tornadoes—especially in the Paducah area and along US-60.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, scattered storms will intensify Monday evening, with the highest threat window opening after 9 p.m. and continuing through Tuesday afternoon. Lightning remains the main hazard overnight, but Tuesday’s storms could bring more serious threats: damaging winds up to 60 mph, quarter-sized hail, and rotating supercells capable of producing tornadoes.

While the greatest concentration of severe weather is expected in western Kentucky, areas across southern Illinois, southwest Indiana, and southeast Missouri will also face storm activity. Paducah, Benton, Murray, and Mayfield are all at risk. Drivers should avoid US-60 and I-24 during peak storm periods on Tuesday, as visibility may drop quickly during heavy rainfall.

Spotter activation may be needed both tonight and again Tuesday, especially if supercells develop and track across Ballard, McCracken, and Graves counties. Residents are urged to charge devices, secure loose outdoor items, and review tornado safety plans now.

By Wednesday, calmer weather returns with sunny skies and highs in the mid-70s. The rest of the workweek looks mild and mostly dry, with only a slight chance of showers returning Friday.
