Paducah, Kentucky – Scattered thunderstorms will continue to sweep across western Kentucky and southeast Missouri through Tuesday night, bringing up to 1.5 inches of rain and the threat of localized flooding along the Arkansas and Tennessee borders.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a stalled frontal boundary is driving the unsettled pattern. Showers and storms are expected to become more frequent Monday into Tuesday, with the heaviest rainfall targeting areas near Poplar Bluff, Cape Girardeau, and Mayfield.

Rain totals may reach or exceed 1.5 inches in Paducah, Murray, and parts of Graves and McCracken counties. Drivers should remain alert for ponding on roadways, especially along U.S. Highway 60 and I-24 corridors. A few thunderstorms may also become strong, producing gusty winds and brief downpours.

Residents are advised to avoid flooded roads, secure outdoor items, and prepare for possible power interruptions. This weather system is similar to earlier spring patterns that triggered flash flooding in the Quad State area.

The threat is expected to shift eastward late Tuesday, but additional advisories may be issued if rainfall intensifies or thunderstorms become more widespread.
