Paducah, KY – A recent heavy rainfall event from April 3-5, 2025, has set new 3-day rainfall records in six counties across western Kentucky, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) Paducah.

The areas affected include Christian, Hickman, Lyon, Marshall, Muhlenberg, and Trigg counties. Several locations surpassed long-standing records for rainfall over a three-day period. For instance, Hopkinsville in Christian County recorded 12.11 inches, breaking its previous record of 10.85 inches set in 1997. Other counties such as Fulton and Eddyville also saw record-breaking totals, with new records of 10.80 inches and 12.57 inches, respectively.

The NWS reports that this significant rainfall could contribute to potential flooding in some areas, advising residents to stay updated on local conditions. These new rainfall totals highlight the severity of the event, particularly as many locations experienced higher-than-expected totals.

As of now, the NWS does not track 4-day records for individual counties, but is considering expanding their tracking system if weather patterns settle into a more consistent pattern in the future. For more details, residents can check out the official NWS climate records page.
