Paducah, KY — A wave of severe storms has torn through western Kentucky, leaving behind a record 473.5 miles of tornado damage across the Paducah forecast region in 2025.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, 41 tornadoes struck the 58-county coverage area between March 14 and April 10. The damage surpassed the previous record of 449.8 miles set in 2011.
The most significant events occurred on March 14-15 and April 2. Fourteen tornadoes on March 14-15 accounted for 241.4 miles of damage, while 23 tornadoes on April 2 left 195.1 miles of destruction. Both days now rank among the top three for most tornado miles in a single event, second only to May 26, 2024.
Communities from Cape Girardeau, MO, to Carbondale, IL, and Murray, KY, reported widespread damage. Tornadoes ranged from EF-0 to EF-3, damaging homes, infrastructure, and farmland.
Residents are urged to review emergency plans, monitor weather alerts, and secure outdoor items during active tornado periods. NWS officials advise staying weather-aware as spring storm season continues.
