Louisville, KY – Warm, unseasonable temperatures are set to continue in the Louisville area this week, with highs expected to reach the upper 70s on Monday and Tuesday. However, residents should prepare for a shift in conditions as widespread rain and potential thunderstorms are forecast for Tuesday night, bringing cooler temperatures by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, Monday will bring partly sunny skies with a high near 77 degrees, with winds from the south around 7 mph. The pleasant weather will persist into the evening with mostly cloudy skies and a low around 64 degrees. However, the pattern changes late Tuesday, when a 40 percent chance of showers is expected to begin around 1 p.m., followed by thunderstorms overnight. The weather service warns that these storms could produce heavy rainfall, with new rainfall amounts between a half and three-quarters of an inch possible.

On Wednesday, the rain and thunderstorms will taper off, but showers may linger through the morning hours. Highs on Wednesday are expected to be cooler, reaching only around 70 degrees, with a chance of precipitation throughout the day. Winds could gust up to 21 mph, making for blustery conditions. Wednesday night will see temperatures drop further to a low near 58, with additional rain possible.

Looking toward the end of the week, Thursday and Friday should be mild, with partly sunny skies and a slight chance of showers on Thursday. Highs will range from the upper 60s to low 70s, offering a brief respite from the wet weather. By Friday, sunny skies and highs near 69 degrees are expected to round out the week.

Residents are advised to monitor local forecasts closely, particularly ahead of Tuesday night’s storms, and to prepare for possible heavy rainfall that could impact travel and outdoor activities.
