Louisville, KY – A complex weather system will bring significant rainfall and potential thunderstorms to the area starting early Monday. Drivers on I-65 and I-64 should prepare for slick roads and reduced visibility during peak hours.
According to the National Weather Service, showers will likely begin after 4 a.m. Monday, followed by isolated thunderstorms through the day. Rainfall amounts may exceed half an inch, with occasional gusty winds reaching up to 20 mph. Temperatures will peak near 66°F Monday before cooling later in the week.
Tuesday brings a slight chance of lingering morning showers before skies clear, with highs in the low 70s offering brief relief. However, breezy conditions will persist, especially in open areas.
Wednesday ushers in a marked temperature drop as highs struggle to surpass the mid-50s. Rain returns Wednesday night, extending into Thursday when precipitation increases to 60% and temperatures fall further to a high near 43°F. Light snow may mix in by Thursday night, although accumulation is unlikely.
By Friday, conditions will begin to stabilize, though temperatures will remain chilly with a high near 40°F.
Residents should secure loose outdoor items ahead of gusty winds, ensure gutters are cleared to prevent flooding, and monitor local forecasts for updates. Morning commuters should allow extra travel time Monday through Thursday.
