Jackson, KY — Rain and snow are poised to impact eastern Kentucky today, creating hazardous travel conditions, especially along I-64. Temperatures will plummet into the mid-30s, with freezing fog and light snow accumulation expected by Wednesday.

According to the National Weather Service, widespread rain will continue throughout Tuesday, with highs near 67°F. Tonight, showers will transition to a rain-and-snow mix as temperatures dip to 34°F. By Wednesday morning, the region will see falling temperatures, patchy fog, and snow showers. Areas south of I-64 could experience accumulations, with temperatures ranging from 36°F to 43°F.

Travelers should exercise caution, especially during the morning commute. Wind gusts up to 15 mph may contribute to slick roads. Those driving through higher elevations or less-treated roads may encounter treacherous conditions.

Looking ahead, much colder air will settle in by Thursday, bringing mostly clear skies but keeping highs in the 30s and lows in the 20s. Friday offers a slight reprieve, with highs reaching the upper 40s under partly sunny skies. Rain returns Saturday, with temperatures climbing to 54°F before dropping again on Sunday night.

Residents are advised to monitor updated forecasts and prepare for fluctuating conditions. Keep an eye on bridges and overpasses, as they tend to freeze first.
