PADUCAH, KY – The calm, cold start to Sunday won’t last long. Western Kentucky’s skies will turn active again Monday afternoon as a wintry mix of rain, sleet, and snow develops along the Ohio River Valley. The National Weather Service in Paducah warns that a rain-to-snow changeover could impact late-day travel across the region, especially along I-24 and U.S. 60.

Highs on Monday will reach around 40°F, but temperatures drop quickly after sunset, allowing for a mix of freezing rain and light snow through late evening. Confidence is increasing that a slushy coating to 1 inch of snow could form in parts of McCracken, Graves, and Livingston Counties, with icy patches possible on bridges and untreated rural roads.

By Tuesday, the system exits east, leaving behind colder, calmer conditions and highs in the mid-30s. While widespread accumulation isn’t expected, the first early-December taste of winter may cause slick travel and reduced visibility for early commuters. Residents should check windshield washer fluid, clear drains, and give extra travel time into Tuesday morning.

Looking forward, temperatures moderate slightly midweek with sunshine returning before another weak front arrives Friday, possibly bringing another round of rain or light snow.

Five-Day Outlook (Paducah Area)

  • Monday: High 40°F, late rain/snow mix.
  • Tuesday: High 37°F, partly sunny, colder start.
  • Wednesday: Sunny, high 44°F.
  • Thursday: Partly cloudy, high 34°F.
  • Friday: Chance of rain or snow, high 37°F.
