Louisville, Kentucky – Most of Kentucky is expected to close out 2025 under mainly dry conditions, with only a low chance of light snow late New Year’s Eve, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
Forecasters say a dry couple of days will lead into 2026 as several weak disturbances move through the region. While most areas are expected to remain precipitation-free, New Year’s Eve night offers the best chance for light snow, primarily across parts of the Bluegrass region.
If snow does develop, impacts are expected to be low, with any accumulation limited to a light coating on grassy or elevated surfaces, such as bridges and overpasses. Widespread travel disruptions are not anticipated at this time.
Temperatures through the end of the week are forecast to remain near seasonal averages. Morning lows will be chilly, with breezy conditions at times producing wind chills in the teens and 20s early in the period. Afternoon highs are expected to stay in the 30s and 40s.
The forecast also suggests that precipitation chances may shift north of the region, with rain becoming more possible later in the weekend, though confidence remains low.
For New Year’s Eve events, especially those outdoors, residents should plan for cold conditions rather than significant winter weather. Early-morning commuters and late-night travelers may still want to monitor updates in case light snow develops in localized areas.
The National Weather Service advises staying aware of forecast updates as timing and precipitation chances may change heading into the holiday.
