Paducah, KY – A brief window for rain and light snow early Wednesday morning could create minor travel issues before a rapid warmup sends temperatures soaring into the 80s by Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, a 15 to 20 percent chance of light rain or snow will develop during the early morning hours Wednesday, mainly before 9 a.m., with minimal to no accumulation expected. Temperatures will quickly rise into the 50s and 60s by afternoon, limiting any impacts after sunrise.

Cities including Paducah, Murray, and Mayfield may see damp roads during the morning commute, but conditions will improve as clouds decrease through the day. By Thursday, highs will jump into the 70s across western Kentucky and southern Illinois, including Carbondale and Marion, with increasing sunshine.

The warming trend continues into Friday and Saturday, with highs reaching the upper 70s to low 80s. Dry conditions will dominate, reducing travel concerns but increasing early-season fire risk as vegetation dries out.

Residents should remain cautious during the early Wednesday commute but can expect a stretch of warm, dry weather heading into the weekend. Additional updates are possible if morning precipitation trends stronger than expected.
