Louisville, KY – Snow showers are spreading southeast across central Kentucky this morning, with brief but locally heavy bursts expected to impact travel through the day, according to the National Weather Service in Louisville.
Forecasters say the main window for snow will be between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. EST, with most areas east of Interstate 65 seeing a dusting to one inch of accumulation. Heavier snow bands could develop mid-morning, briefly reducing visibility and creating slick spots on bridges, overpasses, and untreated roads.
Confidence in snow totals is medium, but even light accumulations could affect drivers, particularly in Louisville, Bardstown, Elizabethtown, Danville, and Campbellsville.
Motorists are advised to slow down and allow extra travel time, as quick-hitting snow squalls could make road conditions change rapidly. Temperatures are expected to stay cold enough for some accumulation on grassy and elevated surfaces through this evening.
Conditions will gradually improve tonight as the snow showers taper off and skies begin to clear.
