Paducah, KY – Heavy rain and thunderstorms will impact Paducah and surrounding areas through Tuesday, bringing the potential for flooding and strong winds. A cold front will follow midweek, leading to sharply colder temperatures into the weekend.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Paducah, widespread showers and storms are forecast to continue throughout Monday, tapering off briefly overnight before returning late Tuesday. Rainfall totals could exceed 2 inches in some areas, particularly near Cairo, Illinois, and Evansville, Indiana. Isolated flooding is possible, and residents are urged to monitor low-lying areas and travel cautiously.
On Monday, thunderstorms may produce heavy downpours and strong wind gusts up to 23 mph, especially during the afternoon. Temperatures will remain unseasonably warm, with highs near 65 degrees. A brief lull in rain is expected Monday night as skies partially clear, dropping lows to the mid-30s.
Tuesday will begin with areas of fog before turning sunny with highs near 58 degrees. However, another round of showers and thunderstorms is expected late Tuesday night. The NWS forecasts up to 80% rain chances through Wednesday morning, with additional accumulations likely.
By midweek, a cold front will bring a sharp temperature drop. Highs will fall to the mid-40s on Thursday, while overnight lows could reach the upper 20s. By Friday, wind chills may dip into the teens, signaling a colder weekend ahead.
