Louisville, KY – Wet and stormy weather will start the workweek across Louisville, with heavy rain and isolated thunderstorms expected Monday. The National Weather Service forecasts significant rainfall through the day, followed by cooler, drier conditions by midweek.

According to the National Weather Service, Louisville residents should prepare for showers and thunderstorms beginning Monday morning and intensifying into the afternoon. South winds gusting up to 25 mph could create difficult driving conditions, especially during heavier rain. Temperatures will rise to a mild high of 61 degrees before cooling off Monday night as the system clears. Rainfall totals may exceed two inches, increasing the risk of localized flooding in low-lying areas.

Drivers traveling on major roadways, including I-64 and I-65, are urged to exercise caution during peak commuting hours due to reduced visibility and slick roads. Motorists should allow extra travel time and avoid flood-prone intersections.

Tuesday brings a significant shift in weather as dry, cooler air settles into the region. Sunny skies will return, but temperatures will drop to a high of 52 degrees with a low near 40 at night.

The midweek outlook continues to favor showers on Wednesday, especially in the afternoon and evening. Temperatures will remain moderate, reaching the mid-50s before cooling significantly overnight into Thursday.

By Thursday and Friday, residents can expect calmer, partly cloudy conditions with daytime highs in the low 40s.

The National Weather Service advises residents to monitor updates and prepare for a wet Monday commute.
