Louisville, KY – After a soggy weekend across Kentucky, a significant drop in temperatures will bring freezing conditions to much of the state, including Louisville, beginning Monday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, rain showers are expected to taper off late Sunday evening, with patchy frost possible in southern parts of the state. Monday will bring drier conditions and a slight warm-up, with highs ranging from 55°F to 60°F.

However, by Monday night, temperatures are forecast to plunge to lows between 25°F and 30°F, prompting a freeze warning across central Kentucky. Tuesday will remain clear but chilly, with highs only reaching the upper 40s to low 50s. Another round of subfreezing lows is expected Tuesday night, dipping between 27°F and 32°F.

Residents are urged to protect sensitive vegetation, outdoor plumbing, and pets from the cold. While April freezes are not uncommon in Kentucky, this week’s back-to-back freeze events could impact early spring planting efforts.

Drivers should also be cautious during early morning commutes, as frost on roadways and windshields may create minor hazards. The National Weather Service will continue to monitor conditions and issue any necessary advisories through Tuesday night.
