Louisville, KY – Up to 2 inches of rain could trigger isolated flash flooding across Kentucky late Sunday into early Monday, prompting warnings for low-lying areas, including parts of Louisville, Owensboro, and along the Green River.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, widespread rainfall totals of 1 to 1.5 inches are forecast across the region, with localized pockets potentially exceeding 2 inches. These higher totals, paired with heavy downpours during thunderstorms, raise the risk of flash flooding Sunday evening through the overnight hours.
The Flash Flood Risk is currently rated Marginal across central and western Kentucky, though confidence in flooding remains at a medium level. Thunderstorms embedded within the rain bands may rapidly intensify the threat in vulnerable areas.
Drivers are urged to avoid water-covered roads, especially at night, and remember: “Turn Around, Don’t Drown.”
Residents in flood-prone zones should prepare now and monitor updates closely. Localized flooding may disrupt travel and morning routines on Monday.
