Paducah, KY – A flash flood warning has been issued for southern Christian County, Todd County, and southeastern Trigg County in Kentucky, with heavy rainfall expected to continue through noon CST Saturday.
According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, thunderstorms have already dropped 1 to 2 inches of rain in the area as of 6:02 a.m. CST. An additional 2 to 3 inches of rainfall is anticipated, leading to potential flash flooding in low-lying areas, small creeks, streams, and urban roadways.
Hopkinsville, Oak Grove, Cadiz, Elkton, and Fort Campbell are among the cities expected to experience flash flooding. The Land Between the Lakes area, Clarksville, Guthrie, and Pembroke are also at risk. Motorists are advised to avoid flooded roads, as most flood-related fatalities occur in vehicles.
The National Weather Service warns residents to remain aware of their surroundings and report flooding to local emergency services when safe. The warning remains in effect until noon CST Saturday as thunderstorms continue to impact the region.
