Hickman, KY – A narrow EF1 tornado touched down in western Fulton County Tuesday night, producing winds up to 100 mph and carving a 5.92-mile path across rural areas east of Hickman, according to the National Weather Service in Paducah. The tornado caused sporadic tree damage and snapped multiple power poles but resulted in no injuries or fatalities, officials said.

The tornado began at 6:42 p.m. CST on November 18 near Highway 94, roughly three miles east of Hickman. Surveyors say the tornado moved slowly to the southeast, crossing open fields and creating a damage path only 30 yards wide at its maximum. Despite its narrow footprint, the tornado maintained enough strength to down trees and break power infrastructure along its route.

According to NWS meteorologists, the supercell responsible for the tornado continued producing minor tree damage as it tracked toward Rice Lane and Highway 166. The tornado lifted at 6:48 p.m. CST, ending about four miles northeast of Woodland Mills in Fulton County.

Officials noted that photos and radar data showed a “very narrow funnel,” consistent with the tight damage corridor mapped during the storm survey. While the tornado was brief, it marked the 60th recorded tornado in the Paducah forecast area for 2025.

Residents are encouraged to review severe weather plans as fall tornadoes remain a threat across western Kentucky.
