Brooksville, KY – A tornado has been confirmed in Bracken County earlier this week, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) office in Wilmington, Ohio.

According to the NWS, an EF0 tornado occurred on Monday, Sept. 22, 2025, in the Bracken County area. EF0 tornadoes are the weakest on the Enhanced Fujita scale, producing winds between 65 and 85 miles per hour. These storms can still cause damage to trees, power lines, and weak structures.

The tornado touched down near Brooksville, county officials reported. No significant injuries or widespread damage were immediately linked to the storm. Crews have been conducting damage surveys to confirm the tornado’s track and intensity.

EF0 tornadoes are often brief and narrow, but the NWS urges residents to treat all tornado warnings seriously. “Even the weakest tornadoes can cause dangerous flying debris,” the agency noted in a statement.

Kentucky averages several tornadoes each year, though fall events are less common compared to the spring severe weather season. Officials are reminding residents to keep weather radios and mobile alerts active as severe weather season continues.

Residents are encouraged to report any storm damage to local emergency management for official documentation.
