London, Ky. – Thick morning fog is blanketing southern and eastern Kentucky, creating hazardous travel conditions for commuters through 10 a.m. Friday.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Louisville and Jackson, visibility across more than 30 counties has dropped to as little as a quarter mile, prompting Dense Fog Advisories through 8 a.m. CDT in south-central counties and 10 a.m. EDT farther east.

Drivers in cities like Somerset, London, Pikeville, and Hazard should expect slowdowns on major routes including I-75, US-27, and the Hal Rogers Parkway. Counties under advisory include Pulaski, Laurel, Rockcastle, Bell, Adair, McCreary, and more. Law enforcement and emergency services urge residents to use low beams, avoid distractions, and allow extra stopping time.

This morning’s fog developed under calm winds and clear skies after overnight temperatures dipped into the low 60s. While this pattern is typical for June, today’s widespread coverage and thickness are unusually severe, especially in hilly and valley regions.

Conditions will gradually improve mid-morning as temperatures rise. However, drivers are urged to check traffic updates and allow delays on school bus routes and rural roads.

⚠️ Dense Fog Advisories remain in effect until 10 a.m. EDT Friday. Updates will follow if conditions worsen.
