Paducah, KY – Dangerous heat and scattered thunderstorms will persist across Kentucky today and into next week, with afternoon highs expected to reach 105°F to 110°F in some areas. The National Weather Service has issued an Extreme Heat Warning and Heat Advisory for much of the state, lasting from noon until 8 p.m. today.

According to the National Weather Service, the combination of heat and humidity will create hazardous conditions for outdoor activities, particularly for children and pets. Peak heat indices are expected to climb above 100°F in many areas, including Paducah, Cape Girardeau, and Farmington.

Alongside the extreme heat, scattered thunderstorms are expected to bring torrential rainfall, lightning, and isolated gusty winds to areas north of Interstate 64. These storms are forecasted to continue through Monday evening, causing potential disruptions in travel and power outages.

Residents are urged to stay hydrated, limit outdoor activities, and never leave children or pets in vehicles. The intense heat wave will persist through the upcoming workweek, with afternoon temperatures surpassing 100°F until next weekend.

The National Weather Service will provide updates as the situation develops.
