Louisville, KY – Kentucky will turn noticeably colder as an Arctic Blast settles across the Ohio Valley from Monday, Dec. 1 through Friday, Dec. 5, ushering in a Cold December pattern with falling temperatures, breezy conditions, and pockets of light snow or flurries.
According to the National Weather Service, early-week disturbances tied to the incoming Arctic air mass will bring a mix of light snow and flurries, primarily Monday night into Tuesday. Moisture will be limited this far south, so accumulations are expected to remain minor, though brief slick spots may form during early-morning travel.
Temperatures are forecast to fall into the 20s, with teens possible across northern and elevated counties. Gusty northwest winds will make it feel colder, especially during the overnight and early-morning hours. Highs through midweek are expected to sit in the 30s, well below normal for early December.
NOAA’s 6–10 Day Temperature Outlook places much of Kentucky in the below-normal temperature zone for Dec. 1–5, reflecting the broader push of Arctic air across the Midwest and Ohio Valley. Additional light snow chances or flurries may appear later in the week as upper-level disturbances track southward.
While no major winter storm is forecast, the combination of colder temps, breezy winds, and occasional snow showers may affect travel, especially north of the Western and Bluegrass Parkways.
Residents across Kentucky should monitor updates as early December ushers in a colder, more winterlike pattern.
