Paducah, KY – Residents across western Kentucky are facing an extended stretch of hot, dry weather as temperatures climb into the 90s through early next week.

According to the National Weather Service in Paducah, while a few light sprinkles may occur Thursday, significant rainfall is not expected over the next seven days. Forecasters say daytime highs will remain well above average, reaching the mid to upper 90s this weekend and into the start of the week.

Meteorologists warn the ongoing dry spell is likely to worsen drought conditions across the region. “Continued dry weather is expected to further develop drought conditions,” the agency said in its Thursday morning outlook.

The 7-day rainfall forecast shows little to no precipitation across Kentucky, while neighboring states to the south and east could see higher totals. Minimum temperatures are expected to remain in the 60s overnight, offering little relief from daytime heat.

Residents are encouraged to take precautions during the upcoming heat wave, including staying hydrated and limiting outdoor activity during peak afternoon hours. Farmers and landowners may face additional strain as soil moisture continues to decline without measurable rainfall.

This pattern is forecast to persist at least through Tuesday, Sept. 16, with forecasters monitoring conditions for any potential changes later next week.
