Louisville, Kentucky – Drivers across northern Kentucky could see wet roads return by Monday as multiple rounds of rain move into the Ohio Valley, though drought conditions may linger.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, several systems will bring periodic showers and thunderstorms through next week, with the best chances for heavier rainfall arriving Monday and again Thursday. Areas north of the Ohio River, including Louisville, Jeffersonville, and Madison, have a 50% to 60% chance of receiving at least 1 inch of rain over the next seven days.
Farther south, including Elizabethtown, Bowling Green, and Somerset, rain chances drop to 20% to 30%, limiting the potential for meaningful drought improvement despite passing storms.
Localized heavier downpours remain possible within thunderstorms, which could briefly impact travel along I-64 and I-65 corridors. However, widespread soaking rain appears less likely across south-central Kentucky.
Residents should stay alert for changing conditions during peak travel times and keep monitoring updates as storm timing becomes clearer. Rain chances will continue through midweek, with additional systems possible beyond Thursday.
