Kentucky Weather Alert: 50% Storm Risk Sunday Night Could Impact Eastern Kentucky Roads

Jackson, Kentucky – Temperatures are climbing across eastern Kentucky today, but shifting weather will bring breezy winds and increasing storm chances that could disrupt travel by Sunday night.

According to the National Weather Service in Jackson, highs will reach between 62 and 67 degrees Thursday under partly cloudy skies before warming into the mid-70s Friday. Winds will become breezy Friday afternoon, with rain chances increasing to as much as 40 percent by evening.

Cities including Hazard, Pikeville, and London will see the warmest air arrive this weekend, with highs pushing into the upper 70s Saturday and climbing as high as 85 degrees Sunday. While much of Sunday daytime remains dry, a cold front moving in overnight will trigger the highest chance for showers and thunderstorms.

Drivers along the Mountain Parkway and U.S. 23 should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility Sunday night into early Monday. Some storms could produce brief heavy rain, though widespread severe weather is not currently expected.

Cooler air arrives quickly Monday, with highs dropping into the upper 50s and low 60s following early morning showers. Additional updates are possible as the timing of Sunday night storms becomes clearer.
