Lexington, Ky. – Up to 4 inches of rain drenched central Kentucky over the past 48 hours, sparking minor flooding concerns and rising river levels throughout the Ohio Valley.

According to the National Weather Service’s Ohio River Forecast Center, central portions of the state—including Fayette, Madison, and Jessamine counties—recorded between 2 to 4 inches of rainfall by Saturday morning. The heaviest totals were centered along the Kentucky River basin, with impacts also stretching into surrounding areas.

Localized flooding has been reported in low-lying zones, and several small streams have overflowed their banks. Roadway ponding has created hazardous driving conditions, particularly on stretches of US-60 and I-75 near Lexington. Emergency managers urge drivers to avoid flooded roads and monitor river status updates throughout the weekend.

The National Weather Service’s latest river forecast map shows minor flood stages being reached across central and eastern Kentucky, with additional rises expected downstream. While no major flood warnings are currently in effect, the region remains vulnerable should more rain fall in the coming days.

Hydrologists will continue to monitor river trends closely. Residents near flood-prone areas are advised to stay alert and check for further advisories at weather.gov/ohrfc.
