LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Kentucky is set for a wet stretch this week, with widespread storms expected to bring 2 to 4 inches of rain through Friday. Some areas in south-central Kentucky, including Bowling Green and Campbellsville, could see up to 6 inches, raising the risk of localized flooding and hazardous travel.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, storms will increase Monday and may become strong to severe, with gusty winds, lightning, and brief downpours. Daily rain chances remain in place through Thursday, with the wettest day expected Wednesday as a cooler air mass moves into the region.
Louisville, Lexington, and Elizabethtown could see several rounds of heavy rain, complicating commutes and creating ponding on low-lying roads. Farther west, Paducah and Hopkinsville are also expected to pick up 3 to 4 inches, while eastern Kentucky cities like Pikeville and Hazard will remain under steady rain chances.
Drivers are urged to allow extra travel time, avoid water-covered roads, and keep devices charged in case of power outages. Stronger storms could prompt additional watches or warnings as the week continues.
Rain and storm chances will linger into Thursday, with improving conditions possible by late week.
