LOUISVILLE, KY — A hazy fog drifts through the city this morning, signaling another moist, chilly start to early December in Kentucky. While today stays mostly dry and gray, the next round of wintry weather is lining up for Sunday morning, bringing a mix of rain and snow showers to Louisville and the surrounding metro.

The National Weather Service calls for a 30–40% chance of precipitation Sunday, with the mix starting around daybreak and continuing through midday. Roads along I-65, I-64, and I-71 could briefly turn slick where snow mixes in before temperatures rise just above freezing. While accumulation is expected to remain light—under ½ inch—any bursts of snow could reduce visibility and create slippery spots on bridges and elevated surfaces.

By Sunday night, colder air filters in with lows near 25°F, setting up a frosty Monday morning. Sunshine returns briefly Monday afternoon, though highs only recover to the lower 30s. The region stays calm through Tuesday before another system brings rain chances back by midweek, continuing December’s active and unpredictable pattern.

Meteorologists say long-range models are hinting at colder air across the Midwest and Ohio Valley between Dec. 11–17, suggesting additional winter systems could form as holiday travel ramps up.

Five-Day Outlook for Louisville:

  • Saturday: Mostly cloudy, high 42°F.
  • Sunday: Rain/snow mix, high 44°F.
  • Monday: Mostly sunny, high 33°F.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny, high 43°F.
  • Wednesday: Showers possible, high 48°F.
