
Paducah, KY – Tornadoes touched down across Kentucky on April 2, causing widespread damage, as the National Weather Service reports the confirmation of at least 18 tornadoes so far. Many more tracks are still being surveyed as crews continue their assessments. The latest tornado reports reveal extensive destruction in various areas of the state.
The first of the confirmed tornadoes, an EF-2, passed through Hollow Road near the Mississippi River and continued along Highway County Road 1320, snapping power poles and destroying a garage. Additionally, high winds in the area, reaching up to 90 mph, caused significant damage outside the tornado’s main path.
A second EF-1 tornado, which struck near the Arkansas border in southern Butler County, moved northeast toward Dunklin County before lifting. This tornado damaged homes, snapped power poles, and destroyed several grain bins. The storm crossed the St. Francis River and continued to inflict widespread damage along its path.
According to the National Weather Service, the damage from the April 2 event spans multiple counties, with continuing assessments providing a clearer picture of the destruction. As surveys progress, officials urge residents to remain cautious, as more tornado tracks may still be revealed.
