Bowling Green, Ky. – Strong wind gusts could quickly create hazardous travel conditions along the Kentucky-Tennessee border, especially on major highways and open roadways heading into early April.

According to the National Weather Service Climate Prediction Center, the 8-to-14 day outlook from Friday, March 27 through Thursday, April 2 shows near-normal temperatures and precipitation across the region, paired with an increased likelihood of strong wind events. Wind gusts could reach 40 to 45 mph, particularly across open terrain and along north-south corridors.

Along the I-65 corridor, including Bowling Green, Nashville, and Clarksville, crosswinds may impact high-profile vehicles and create sudden driving hazards. Open farmland and rolling terrain can allow winds to strengthen quickly, leading to reduced driver control during peak gusts.

Western Kentucky and Middle Tennessee, including Paducah and Hopkinsville, may also see gusty conditions that increase the risk of isolated power outages where tree limbs and utility lines are exposed.

Bridges, overpasses, and elevated roadways across the region are especially vulnerable to sudden wind shifts. Travel conditions may change quickly, particularly during the morning and evening commute.

Residents are urged to secure loose outdoor objects, charge essential devices, and use caution when traveling in high-wind-prone areas.

This pattern is expected to persist into early April, with additional wind advisories possible as conditions evolve.
