Nashville, TN – Drivers across much of Kentucky and Middle Tennessee should prepare for dangerous visibility conditions early Sunday as dense fog blankets the region through mid-morning.

According to the National Weather Service offices in Jackson and Nashville, a Dense Fog Advisory remains in effect until 10 a.m. EDT in Kentucky and 9 a.m. CDT in Tennessee. Visibility could drop below a quarter-mile in many areas, creating hazardous travel—especially along rural roads, valleys, and near rivers.

In Kentucky, impacted counties include Rowan, Laurel, Pike, and Rockcastle, with fog also reported around key roadways near Somerset, London, and Hazard. Tennessee’s advisory spans from Putnam and Fentress counties to Maury and Lawrence counties, affecting commutes in cities like Cookeville, Columbia, and Murfreesboro.

Motorists are urged to slow down, use low-beam headlights, and allow extra distance between vehicles. The fog is expected to lift by late morning as temperatures rise and visibility improves, but drivers should remain cautious on shaded roads and overpasses where fog may linger.

Further advisories are not expected, but updates will follow if visibility remains low beyond 10 a.m.
