Louisville, KY – The National Weather Service has issued multiple Wind Advisories across southern Indiana, Kentucky, and parts of eastern Tennessee beginning late Saturday night into Sunday morning, warning of strong gusts ahead of an incoming cold front.
According to the NWS Louisville office, all of southern Indiana and central Kentucky will be under a Wind Advisory from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. EDT Sunday, with south winds of 10 to 20 mph and gusts up to 40 mph, and isolated peaks near 50 mph possible. The strongest gusts are expected just before the cold front passes early Sunday morning.
The NWS Jackson office extended the advisory for eastern and southeastern Kentucky, including London, Somerset, and Morehead, from 3 a.m. to 11 a.m. EDT Sunday, noting that winds may blow around holiday decorations and wet leaves could make roads slick.
Further south, the NWS Morristown, TN office added Campbell and Scott Counties to the advisory, with 15–25 mph winds and gusts up to 45 mph from midnight through 2 p.m. Sunday.
Forecasters say a brief lull is expected late Sunday morning, followed by a second round of westerly winds of 25–35 mph into the afternoon. Residents are urged to secure outdoor items, use caution while driving high-profile vehicles, and prepare for possible isolated power outages.
