Louisville, Kentucky – Summer heat arrives in force Sunday as Louisville climbs to near 90°F, but the calm won’t last. Midweek storms may bring damaging winds and hail to parts of central Kentucky, triggering spotter alerts and raising travel concerns along I-65.
According to the National Weather Service in Louisville, isolated strong to severe thunderstorms are possible starting Wednesday afternoon, June 4, continuing into Friday. Storms may push southeast at 40 mph, and emergency management teams are warning residents to stay weather-aware.
Sunday (June 1) brings sunny skies and a high of 77°F across Jefferson County. Calm winds and clear conditions will hold through Monday evening.
Monday (June 2) warms up to 82°F with continued sunshine—ideal for outdoor plans before unstable weather moves in.
Tuesday (June 3) sees a jump to 89°F. While skies remain mostly sunny, humidity levels will rise, setting the stage for showers and thunderstorms by nightfall.
Wednesday (June 4) and Thursday (June 5) both carry a high likelihood of storms—60% to 70%—with localized downpours and the potential for wind damage. Spotters may be activated if storms intensify.
Residents should secure outdoor items, check flashlights and emergency kits, and plan travel around peak storm hours.
Smoke from Canadian wildfires may also reduce air quality, especially during still-air mornings.
Looking Ahead:
Friday stays stormy with highs near 82°F. A slight cooldown may follow. Updates will continue as watches or warnings are issued.
