Louisville, Kentucky – Drivers and outdoor workers across Kentucky will face a surge of summer heat and humidity this week, as temperatures soar into the upper 80s and mid-90s through Thursday. Hot, mostly dry weather will dominate, but patchy morning fog and isolated afternoon showers could complicate commutes and outdoor plans.

According to the National Weather Service Louisville, most of the region will stay dry today, with just a stray thunderstorm possible this afternoon. Daytime highs will climb to 90°F in Louisville and Bowling Green, with heat indices making it feel as hot as 106°F by Wednesday. Hartford and Bowling Green may briefly touch 92°, while Lexington, Frankfort, and Richmond will see highs near 88°F. Patchy fog could reduce visibility overnight, especially in low-lying and rural areas.

Heat and humidity will intensify by midweek, making Wednesday and Thursday potentially uncomfortable for anyone spending time outside. Officials urge residents to limit strenuous activities during peak afternoon hours, hydrate frequently, and check on vulnerable neighbors. Make sure to charge mobile devices and have fans or air conditioning ready in case of power outages.

The current hot pattern is expected to continue into the weekend, with only a slight chance for stray showers each afternoon. Updates and new advisories will be issued if conditions change.
