Paducah, KY – A mix of sunshine and clouds Friday will give way to showers and thunderstorms by Saturday as a spring storm system moves through western Kentucky. Expect gusty winds and a chance of heavy rainfall, followed by a brief cooldown.
According to the National Weather Service, rain chances increase Saturday afternoon, with a 50% chance of showers after 1 p.m. Thunderstorms could develop by evening, bringing gusts up to 25 mph. Sunday will see widespread rain and possible thunderstorms, with a 90% chance of precipitation throughout the day.
By Monday, the system clears out, bringing sunny skies and highs in the mid-60s. However, another round of showers is possible by Thursday. Temperatures will stay mild throughout the week, with highs ranging from the low 60s to upper 60s and lows in the 40s.
Drivers should prepare for slick roads, especially along I-24 and U.S. 60. If thunderstorms develop, be mindful of potential strong winds and reduced visibility. Those with outdoor plans Saturday and Sunday should check the latest updates and have a backup plan in case of storms.
The elevated wildfire risk forecasted for Friday in southeast Missouri and surrounding areas will diminish by the weekend as moisture increases. However, breezy conditions could still lead to localized fire concerns.
