LOUISVILLE, KY — A spring storm system is set to bring heavy showers and gusty winds to the Louisville area starting Monday morning. As storms roll in, expect downpours, potentially causing road hazards, and winds gusting up to 26 mph. Travelers should prepare for wet roads and reduced visibility.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will begin early Monday and continue through the afternoon. The storm system is expected to peak with an 80% chance of precipitation, and severe thunderstorms are possible, especially before 1 p.m. As the system moves through, the rainfall could accumulate to nearly an inch, increasing the risk of flooding on roadways and in low-lying areas. The NWS also warns of gusty winds that could disrupt outdoor activities or pose challenges for driving.

By Monday night, the showers will subside, but temperatures will remain mild, with a low around 51°F. Tuesday will bring calmer weather, with sunshine returning to the region and temperatures rising to 76°F. However, spring showers will return Thursday and Friday, accompanied by the possibility of thunderstorms.

Looking Ahead:

  • Monday: Showers expected to intensify through the day with wind gusts. High of 75°F.
  • Tuesday: Mostly sunny with a high of 76°F.
  • Wednesday: High of 80°F with clear skies.
  • Thursday: Chance of afternoon thunderstorms. High of 77°F.
  • Friday: More showers possible with highs in the upper 70s.
